Couples Therapy

Relationships are at the core of the human experince.

You wouldn’t go to a hardware store for help with a computer issue hoping they would know how to care for it. And you shouldn’t take your most important relationship to a therapist who isn’t trained to deal with it.

I’m passionate about the marriage relationship and what it can be. For this reason I’ve continued to train in the gold standard of evidence-based therapy for couples - Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).

Do you find yourself trying not to say anything in hopes your partner will notice and address it, only to find it creates more distance so you speak up to address and protect the relationship only to be told you’re too emotional and need to calm down

…or maybe

you keep trying and get the sense your not enough and every move you make seems to lead to failure. And then even when you try to get space to keep things from blowing up, and find the courage to finally speak up you are told you’re defensive or have an anger problem?

What does EFT couples counseling look like?

Taking a collaborative approach we will slow things down and help the couple:

  • Expand and re-organize key emotional responses and, in the process, the organization of the dance or cycle with loved ones.

  • Create a positive shift in partners interactional messages and patterns.

  • Foster the creation of a secure bond between partners.
